I am mending a box trailer where one of the aluminium side panels blew off on the M5. What is the white goo which was used on the joints to stick them together and seal against water, and where can i get some please?
Sikaflex is the usual stuff. I think Sikaflex 221. The numbers do make a difference. It's a polyurethane goop a bit like silicone, but better. Stickier and more flexible.
Price is more than silicone, however it's not unreasonable. Note though that once it's opened it has a very short shelf life.

have used both the mastic strip and IDL non drying on caravanwindow surrounds and rails
The benefit of these is that the components can be separated again without too much effort should the need arise
Although I have have not needed to use them for my caravan jobs Sikaflex 221 is the dogs b*****ks but is permanent (same with Sikaflex 512)

You can get small tubes on eBay easy enough ... I needed some for a boat job.
