Buzzing boiler!

Hi All!

I have an Ariston Gas Boiler fitted only about 10 months ago. It i still in warranty but sounds like it's gone wrong already!

It's making a buzzing noise! It still primes and fires and works well I can't smell any leak but that's my worry...

It sounds as if the pump is buzzing but I can't pinpoint it exactly. I also sounds like the mechanical timer is clicking on and off rapidly This is as well as the buzzing! All appears to still work fine but if turn off the fuse the buzzing doesn't stop! Even if I trip the whol fuse panel it doesn't stop!

Has anyone got any thoughts? I'm ringing Ariston in the morning bu worried that "ohh...THAT's not covered under the warranty" type answe or waiting weeks for them to fix it and it might be dangerous!

Thanks guys

Michae

Are you absolutely sure it's the boiler buzzing!

(This reminds me of a friend of mine, absolutely convinced her burglar alarm was bleeping - it was the battery smoke detector, wanting a new battery!

Has it got an automatic bypass in the boiler. Mine used to moo like a demented cow when the radiators were cutting off until I fitted an extra external one.

Hi Michael, As part of my kitchen refurbishment I rearranged various cables to/from the central heating timeclock. Instead of running two separate cables i figured that I could use one cable which was TRIPLE and earth: Live, Neutral and Earth from the supply at the boiler and a returning live from the timeclock via the thermostat to tell the boiler to fire.

Many months after the successful alteration I was working at the circulator pump and heard a faint buzzing noise. My conclusion is that it is inductive pickup from the always-live wire to the demand-live wire since they run for umpteen metres and are roughly 1cm apart. I could be wrong, but that is my best theory. It still works okay.
