Buying house underpinned in 1992, can you suggest a good insurer ?

Hi,

I am buying a house that was underpinned in 1992 has all the certificates, i think i can reinsure with there current insurer, but would like alternatives as well?

Anyone dealt with good insurers for this type of house?

Regards

Gary

Side note about this - get written confirmation from the existing insurer that they will insure the house, and for what premiums, before you exchange contracts. Insurance companies *usually* will reinsure the same house, but they can sometimes change their mind.

Often a local broker is the best bet, especially if the area has a history of subsidence, as they will know the insurance companies who are most likely to take on the risk. Another option would be to commission a specialist structural report - if it shows that there is no increased risk of a claim due to the underpinning, then you may find that (a) more companies are interested (b) the premiums may be lower.
