A video from an American news program(me) claiming that it is possible to buy a house for a dollar in Detroit.

(Hint:- There are reasons.)

What they will probably not tell you is that there a likely to be large amounts of unpaid property tax arrears which will transfer with the property to the new owner. So not as cheap as they make out. Still cheaper than around here though.

If you want something that could be a nice house in Detroit try here:

the 1920s Boston Edison was where all the motor company executives lived.

I think CNN is well regarded in America. I have heard this elsewhere to so it seems likely to be true.

I have no problem with the news item, just the nonsensical, nutcase commentary that's been put on youtube to go with it. I've no doubt that there are derelict houses in Detroit that aren't worth anything.

Just like an old garden shed we had that we had to pay to dispose of.

Dereliction in Detroit, ex motor city , is on a completely different scale to a couple of abandoned buildings

There isn`t even the cash or interest to demolish.

Isn't that what Goebbels used to say? "Repeat something often enough and people will believe it".
