Google comes up with lots of different instructions on building a Lean to, so I'm boggled with ideas now.
I want to stick what essentially is a car port / lean to, on the side of the house its 7 foot wide, has gates at each end of the run, the side of the house is approx 9 mtrs, the lean to will run the full length.
I intend to use 4x4 posts, 5 of them as the supports 2 mtrs apart then 4 x 2 rafters 500mm ctrs all the way down. what do I put (if anything) on the wall to support the raftes? can I just use hangers or do I need to put a 6x1 plate of similar the full length of the house? and I suppose similar on the 5 upright posts to support the joists or is there another way?
Also, I didn't intend to lead flash the roof to the wall, its not meant to be water tight so will a plastic sloped roof give any issues if I allow water to run down the wall of the house? if it is an issue, is there any product I could use instead of lead flashing? some form of rubber sticky stuff ?
Any tips for the hard plastic roofing?
TIA
