buggy TV.

42" plasma, LG, one of the specials from richer sounds bought earlier this year.

damn thing has an annoying bug.... a spider to be precise, it's between the front glass and i presume the glas covering the individual plasma vials, as it happily wanders about in there without a care in the world, no amount of changing colours fazes him, so he seems not to be affected by any charges in there (i recall a plasma works by sending warying high voltages to the plasma vials to make them light up)

not sure what to do, guess i should get onto richer sounds and see if it's covered by their warrenty, i assume he got in recently, so isnt.

if so, how should i get him out? dangle a fly by an air vent, squeeze a bird in to eat the spider?

On a similar tack, this weekend I opened up an iMac. And the dire warnings are to clean it out perfectly before putting the glass back. Having now done it, I would easily be able to manage to get a spider out, if ever one decided to reside there.

Hint folks, the cheapest Screwfix suction pad thingy worked wonderfully well.

(Not sure it's with your boldness, your skill, your confidence, your foolhardiness, etc. I guess I'm as impressed as watching a Bungee Jumper!))

I used the sink plunger. Took reasonable dust avoidance precautions but nothing pre-emptive like the special lint attracting rollers on youtube. Hey I could maybe get a job as an Apple Genius. Then again, maybe not.

I think I would happily try a sink plunger now - but we have not got one!

It really is quite easy - a very neat and effective retention mechanism.

Quick, light spray with Sprint glass cleaner and a new J-cloth-alike - perfect.

For the benefit of those who are interested and haven't guessed, the retention system is magnets along the top edge.

In my case the glass was cracked and had to be replaced. I managed to source a replacement on eBay I used plenty of tape to keep the cracked glass together when I removed it.
