Breadmakers?

It depends on how many loaves you use a day. The breadmaker would suit if you can live with a couple of loaves a day, and you know you'll be in. For example, start it at night on a timer, and it produces fresh bread at

7/8/9AM, then put it on on the timer for 3/4/5PM.

If you'r going to need a lot of bread in a hurry, it's not a good idea.

For me, freezing is a problem, as the freezer is always full, since the chest freezer died.

As you say, each to their own.

Hey! I don't want to be making a loaf a day!

My system of making many loaves and having bake-free days is the ideal, with our irregular lives it means there's always bread.

But we're certainly not in every day.

It's not just a matter of being in a hurry though ... in fact making bread in a hurry is never a good idea.

Oh, I'm sorry about that. We have a huge chest freezer and a large upright one. The way we buy meat alone (half a cow, a whole pig, a couple of sheep to say nothing of lots of game in season etc) we couldn't do without them. They've saved their initial and running costs.

We also have a large fridge and a smaller one for butter - which I also buy in large quantities because I can't get our favourite locally.

Then there's milk and fruit from the garden and bread of course .. :-)
