The wall is brick 3ft up from the ground followed by breeze block and are in a good state. The gates are to be 6ftx4ft each in softwood.

My builder swears by them, and uses them to mount serious loads. Personally I still prefer resin-bolting, cos I like the extra security of an adhesive bond.

Me too, and increasingly they are being recommended for use on listed buildings. Minimal damage to the brickwork.
