Boiler switch in bathroom cupboard?

At the moment our boiler which is in the bathroom is powered from a socket in the heighbouring room. Would it be ok to have the switch in the cupboard that houses the boiler. I know this means having a switch in the bathroom but it would be in a cupboard.

OK, provided the cupboard has a key operated lock, or the door is screwed shut. You might even get away without the lock if it is in the right zone (far enough from the bath and/or shower).

..or use a pull-cord switch in the roof of the cupboard

Provided that switch is double pole (i.e like a shower pull cord and not a lighting one).

Hi,

It would be notifiable under the new rules for electrical safety unless a NICEIC approved contractor fits it.

It would also have to be in a position where a person using the bath o shower could not reach it, I have a switch in a cupboard in th bathroom and the electrician said it needed moving as someone using th bath could reach it. This would mean having to bend around the showe screen and then stretching some 6 feet, perhaps the tallest man in th world could reach it but not many other people could! It would als need bonding to all metal pipework and other electrical items in th bathroom as well
