blockage in drains

Hi I have just completed my selfbuild and have notice that one of the soil drains blocks up. I rodded it clear and flushed it clean, but it still starting to back up. My suspision is that there is some concrete / cement debris in the line. What would be the best way to clean the bottom of the pipe? Ive used a drop down scraper and tried that with no sucess and the rubber plunger just goes through like the line is clear. Any good ideas or is it just work the drop scraper back and forth and hope to clear it. Rob up to his elbows in s**t.

If the plunger goes through OK there's unlikely to be much debris in there. Two choices - cam it to see what you are or are not dealing with or use cheaper loo roll.....

I wonder if it has a low point along the run, that would rod through OK, but eventually something will stop. Try a camera to see if there is a pool of .... somewhere.

brick acid mate, followed by some hot water.

Get a couple of gallons. Useful stuff.

Thats about what I was thinking may use a combination of acid and the scraper, before getting a camera investigation and the associated bill!. thanks Rob

Have you tried a corkscrew end on the rods?

I can get the rods right down the pipe , my guess is that there is a small amout of dry cement slurry at the bottom of the pipe which solids and paper catch on eventually blocking it but the rubber plunger deforms over it After rodding water flows away fine , guess i should put some paper in the flush and try that. I had a similar problem in some pipework that I am only just beginning to connect to..I'd been using the temporary bog to pout tile cement waste down..and polyfilla etc...bog suddenly started backing up and te basin wouldn't' flow.

Fortunately a full basin and a full bog emptied simultaneously seems to have cleared it. ;-)

Hopefully it will sink to the bottom of the Klargester in time for the

2008 empty...

Now you know chucking that sort of muck down the drain will block it. Should have chucked it down the well :-)
