Bathroom Tiles and Flooring - Finishing Touches

The bathroom is nearing completion, sort of. So I have three questions for the learned folks of this group.

1 The bath I have fitted doesn't reach the wall at the tap end - about 6" shortfall to make up. Considering part tiles laid across wood infill piece onto top of bath. My question is (using tiles with unglazed edges) how best to finish the exposed edge of the tile sat just onto the bath end? Are there better alternatives to this as an arrangement?

2 SWMBO likes cushion floor (she actually wanted wood and I wanted carpet so this is the compromise). The floor has too many gaps/uneven bits and will require covering first. What should I use in this damp environment? Not too keen on hardboard for this application. I intended to fit it around the toilet and basin pedestal in case the floor has to come up...comments please.

3 Finally I want to make a tiled bath panel to coordinate. What material and thickness for backboard should I use (I want it fairly stiff of course but not too heavy..oooh errr!). This will extend beyond the end of the bath by the 6" mentioned above. Any ideas on the side panel detail where it leaves the bath and meets the plain tiled boxing to the wall?

Thanks to anyone who has even bothered to read to the end of this post, let alone reply to it!

Phil

For a tiled side and end panel make the boxing in as one. 1/4" ply on batons is adequate.
