B&Q web site

If you are a bit bored at the moment, can you try finding a shower handle, hose and riser rail on their web site.. it's absolutly infuriatingly crap if you ask me !

Agreed, it's by far the worst diy-type site there is IMO; I never go go near it unless absolutely necessary.

(Don't you just love all the drop-down menus with exactly 1 item in each menu?)

The site doesn't carry all their stock by a long chalk, but there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to what is and what isn't there.

And no, I can't find your items either!!

Worse than Homebase?

The only put stuff on the web which is available for Home delivery. I wouldn't expect showers spares to be on there.

At least it's not just me then, I'll give up with the stupid thing. Although it's actually not too bad if you are lucky and you can find what you want!

Like asking for something like "screw" and it gives you paint and garden mowers? Or the simple fact that it has about 2% of the stuff they carry?

No, it's not just you. It's the crappiest retail website I think I've ever come across, by a huge margin. Utter utter utter crap.

I agree with all the above, but Wickes' site is much less useful, don't you think? At least B&Q's site lists *some* of what they sell.

Dunno, Wickes at least has their brochure, which gives most of their stock. Alright its a download, but then as B&Q charge £20 for delivery for web orders on the top of their already inflated prices for most things, it's not really a web-ordering choice.

Off topic - Hi and thanks to all who post here, I've lurked here for a year or so as I've been doing up my first house. This group has been the single most useful source of information I've found.

No, Wickes is the worst. Wickes won't let you look at the PDF of a brochure without registering, and it won't let you register without using internet exploder, which doesn't run on my computer (yes, I know how to lie to it).

If you look at the source you see that each page is generated live by Javascript, for absolutely no reason whatever that I can see.

In the "what's New" section, for some unknown reason, the brochure can be downloaded without registering. I had no problems using Firefox just now.

Wonder if the bosses at Wicks know they've paid for an incompetent web design? Given that they're selling things and have locked out a much larger percentage of customers than pure percentage figures might suggest?

I dunno - I haven't been bothered to point out to them that they've lost the best part of 1000 quids worth of business from me this year as a direct result of their crap website (I'd have bought their product if I could have looked at it, but as I couldn't, I bought something else).
