B&Q prices.

High overheads. Large car parks have to be paid for.

Also, a decent wholesaler will have a steady flow of customers all day. B&Q sometimes packed, sometimes empty. The wholesaler will also have account customers they deliver to, further reducing the staff to turnover ratio.

and high rents on city park sites, also high staff salaries. And high cost of processing small orders.

I tend to spend £100+ at the builders merchants..and nothing at B &Q..think the last thing I bought there was a power planer for 30 quid 5 years ago.

And more by phone. I just E-mailed my order in last time. Efficient.

What do they mean 'Beat Any Price'?

"Yes sir. Available at Homebase for £12, did you say? We can beat that

- Fifteen quid to you sir."

I'm waiting for the ladder sale:

'25% off all ladders!!! Example: 4m ladder, now only 3m tall.'

Not good enough to satisfy part P though. I let my membership lapse years ago, as they supported stuff like part P. I did joint the IEEE for a bit a few years ago as it was free and the magazines were pretty.

Strange how Isaac Lord are often lauded in this group yet they are more expensive than the "thieving bar stewards" for similar items.

Now I remember why I never shop at Isaac Lord, and take such posts on this group with a large pinch of salt.

it does doesn;t it. I have part of a roll of black/red twin & E. I was under the impression that legally you couldn't use it to install new sockets, you have to use the 'new' blue/brown.

provided you put appropriate sleeves on the ends where they are connected, there shouldn't be a problem.

If your existing wiring is red and black I'd say it ideal. If it is the new colours, you'd probably have no trouble doing a swap. ;-)
