also, DDR2 so not of use to you: Crucial 1GB 200pin DDR2 SODIMM 128Mx64 PC2-5300 and another 1GB Hynix branded

I have only got a 256M DDR 200 pin lying around. If the oldest portable gives up the ghost then a 1GB block would become available.

Why are you keeping such an elderly slow portable alive? Mine is for VH use - fast enough to do Word or Excel provided not too many graphics.

Have you tried ebay? This sort of stuff is grist for the mill over there... I've often bought memory etc for old kit (like my trusty LaserJet 5!) for peanuts, without any problems.

because I have got a faster newer one, and I only use it for reading books on bed, and occasionally browsing in bed, and if we take the camper on h9oliday, it becomes a TV when equipped with a TV dongle..

And its built like a tank and is in good condition. An has a decent keyboard.

essentially if I can get some free or cheap RAM to make it a bit faster on the boot.and able to do more t5yhan one thing at a time..then it will be suitable for all I n3eed a laptop for for he next 5 years...

Ive looked all over and oddly enough this particular chip is expensive and rare.

I can get it cheaper NEW than from ebay., BUT I thought Id ask around first in case someone has one in that pile of computer bits box.
