Another (slightly different) Diversity Question

Hi all

Following on from the great ERYC cooker saga..

Reading the On Site Guide there is a statement under the diversity table which reads:

"It is important to ensure that the distribution boards and consumer units are of sufficient rating to take the total load connected to them without the application of any diversity"

Most houses, like mine I suspect, will have upstairs and downstairs ring (2x32A) cooker (32A) 2 lighting circuits (2x6A). This exceeds the 100A main switch/trip rating. Presumably the rating referred to in the On Site Guide is more of a capacity before failure figure? If so, what is a "standard" consumer unit likely to be rated at?

Thanks

Phil

Sorry, I have just realised that you are refering to the "notes to table 1B" that says "It is important to ensure that the distribution boards and consumer units are of sufficient rating to take the total load connected to them without the application of any diversity". Now this statement has a little dagger symbol next to it and only applies to the circuits in table 1B that have the little dagger next to them.

Thanks Adam

Looked all over for the little dagger thingy. Found it now and it all makes sense. Friday afternoon fading eye sight, fatigue and all that.
