I need to do up a bolt (crankshaft pully) to 220ft/lb, apparently. Not really sure why it demands such a high figure, but I'm no mechanical engineer. My torque wrench, which I thought was pretty big,...

Fitting a phone connector
How easy is it to shorten a phone lead? Standard BT connector. Can the old plug be re-used, or do you need a new one? Special crimp tool? (I'd rather not have a splice in the cable as it would show -...

OT: Going off-grid and using an electric car to power house.
Lets assume EDF get nasty and cut off people refusing to take a 'smart' meter. Would it be possible to survive totally off-grid with just solar PV on a south-facing, 37 degree pitch roof on a house in...

It's not a loop unless the camera is connected to a live TV display. Then it goes nuts.

Re: I'm surrounded by incompetants!
