"3-position" switch and light sensor

I am having an outside light fitted which works on a "turn light on when it gets dark" sensor (i.e. NOT a motion sensor). Now has anyone on the group wired such a thing so that the light can be...

- ON (permanently)

- ON when it's dark (so controlled by sensor)

- OFF

Seems like I need either a 3-position switch or the less favoured option of two switches working...

- Powered

- Off

- Sensor controlled

- Direct (so "Powered" => ON).

For the moment I'll leave it OFF/sensor controlled but I might later want "ON" to be an option.

Has the cabling been installed between the switch position and the light fitting yet. If so how many cores does it have? Also, to where is the power from the dis board cabled?

Never wired up an exterior light with a photocell, done plenty with PIR's though. Does the light have a manual overside feature where if power is disconnected then re-connected (by means of a switch) it enters manual overide mode and the light comes on? If so, only need one switch. I installed a PIR security light, taking the feed from the lighting circuit (electric shaver cable specificaly). Took the spur to a separate FCU, then onto the light. A quick flick off / on from the FCU and the light enters manual overide mode and comes on.

Most PIR/sensor lights nowadays uses 3 "flicks" of power to cycle between PIR mode and always on.

Flick power switch 3 times and is a normal on/off via switch light.

Flick power another 3 times then behaves as a PIR light.
