3/4" inch metal T Track widgets

Myself and another poster were drawn to this fairly inexpensive but standard rail for use in homebrew router tables:

I cannot find a good source for general widgets, clamps, plain T-head bolts and other miscellania that would work with this track - tht's sensibly priced, that is!

rutlands.co.uk have loads of hideously overpried Dakota stuff.

Is there another name for 3/4" T Track and things that work with it?

Cheers

Sadly I'm not geared up to do proper metalwork :(

Are there any other track alternatives that you know of? The 3/4" seems to be a sort of standard (with 1/2" track following closely) but as thi sis homebrew, and I really only see track-bolts and nuts or thumbwheels being used to hold down home made bits of bentmetal or wood or feathers it isn;t terribly important to follow a standard...

looks like 'Tee bolts' rather than 't bolts' is the thing to search for.

I also wondered whether coach bolts would do as a crude initial method, perjaps with the head ground or filed down to suit.

That seems to get further...

Damn - also found this:

costs a little more than track, but you'd probably need 2 at most as it is movable.

Those tee bolts are only 12mm so not sure they will be any good with standard 3/4" tee track? As for going non standard track size - that is all very well until you want to use a standard mitre gauge or sliding table on your router table. I suggest you think through a few typical operations that you might want to do such as a coped rail and style joint or indeed almost any cross grained profile routing.

Jigs such as these might be food for thought

Hi Bob,

They are sold for the Axminster track which it says is 19mm wide edge to edge (3/4"). Is that 3/4" track or does the number refer to the slot width (9.something on the axminster track)?

Thanks, I'll check those out :)

Tim,

My definition of 3/4 track is one where the narrowest part of the slot is 3/4". This is what you will fine machined into the tables of most relevant machines. The total depth is usually a gants over 3/8" so that a plain 3/4 x 3/8" bar will slide in the slot. This is what is fitted as standard to mitre gauges etc used on these machines. I'm not sure of the dimensions of the wider part of the the Tee but can measure the slot on my table saw if you like.

Having had KITY equipment in the past that uses bespoke Tee slot dimensions, (typical French) as well as 15mm bore sawblades, I can assure you that it is a real PITA to deviate away from a standard Un Munge my email address and come back to me directly for further help. I can make you some Tee nuts maybe? Bob

Hi Bob,

Thanks for that - I misquoted - the slot apparantly is 8.9mm wide (at the opening I assume) and I suspect 1/2" at the widest part. Wonder if this is what they call 1/2" track...

Very kind offer - thank you.
