hot water pressure boost

Hi all,

This might be a silly question but:

Has anyone tried to boost the hot water pressure by using a power shower pump. I have got the mono block type taps with the small diameter pipes to the taps. The restriction is so much that the wife keeps leaving the tap on and has to wait ages for the bowl to fill.

Having had a word with a plumber he said that a 1.5 bar pump would blow the taps off? This seems strange because about 20 psi dosent seem excessive for a water system (or is it) I am only a novice at diy.

My intention was to parrallel the hot water in and the boosted water out so using both impellers of the pump.

Is this idea feasable or is there another way of increasing the pressure.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Ken.

Yes. Assuming you have gravity fed tanked water, it works just fine, if a little noisily. Choose a pump with a very heavy duty cycle and use it for the entire house. This will improve baths and showers as well.

You can get single impellor pumps.
