I'm wondering if someone could help me out. I want to put up a fence
around my yard but I am having the worst time finding fencing. I've
gone to the two major home improvement stores and both have a very
limited selection. What I am looking for would be wood, not cedar,
but something that I would paint (re: cheaper than cedar), 6' privacy
fence with a lattice top. I can find it in cedar but I don't have the
money to pay $100 for an 8' panel and I want it painted anyway. I can
also find it in vinyl but that is expensive as well and I think that
painted wood just looks better anyway. Where do DIYers purchase fence
panels? Any thoughts?

If you are in the United States, I think your problem is that the
available stock is low. Spring is the best time to buy this kind of
stuff. I bought dogear pressure treated 6' tall panels of pine
stockade fencing at Mr. Seconds Bargain Outlet this past April for $24
a panel, and the big box stores want $36 for the same thing. Can you
wait until next spring?
