Where to find fencing?

Hi There,

I'm wondering if someone could help me out. I want to put up a fence around my yard but I am having the worst time finding fencing. I've gone to the two major home improvement stores and both have a very limited selection. What I am looking for would be wood, not cedar, but something that I would paint (re: cheaper than cedar), 6' privacy fence with a lattice top. I can find it in cedar but I don't have the money to pay $100 for an 8' panel and I want it painted anyway. I can also find it in vinyl but that is expensive as well and I think that painted wood just looks better anyway. Where do DIYers purchase fence panels? Any thoughts?

Thanks! Diana

the reason why you want cedar is for it to last, or pressure treated lumber.. if you use just plain old pine in a year or two you gonna need some new wood...

If you are in the United States, I think your problem is that the available stock is low. Spring is the best time to buy this kind of stuff. I bought dogear pressure treated 6' tall panels of pine stockade fencing at Mr. Seconds Bargain Outlet this past April for $24 a panel, and the big box stores want $36 for the same thing. Can you wait until next spring?
