Washing Machine Agitator not moving

I need help. I have a whirlpool washing machine model LSQ9264HZ0 top loader. The agitator does not move. Is this a simple thing to fix myself or do I need to call a repair person. If anyone can help me please let me know.

Thanks Eric

Hi,

At all? Or just the top part doesn't move? Motor is still running?

Really depends on what is wrong and what is required to correct this.

Not agitating at all and the motor is running:

- transmission

- stripped agitator

- motor coupler ( often stops the spin as well )

Bottom 1/2 works but the top 1/2 of the agitator does not:

- agitator drive dogs are worn out

Does the washer fill?

Does it make any sounds when it should be agitating?

The whole agitator doesn't move or just the top part of it?

Does the washer still spin??

Does the timer advance through the cycles normally?

The cause of the problem will depend on a more accurate description of the symptoms. Whether *you* can repair it will depend on what turns out to be the actual cause of the trouble and how handy you are.

More often than not it is the four little nylon "dogs" that wear out inside the agitator. You can pick 'em up at a parts supply place for a few bucks and do it yourself.
