The quiet way.
Transport to nearest lake or river and do a hydrostatic test on the trap
with raccon in it. Treehugging bystanders will usually interfere, so be
discreet. Attach cement block to trap and toss in water. If it sinks, then
go get a haircut or have lunch and let it soak. If it doesn't rise to the
surface, then the test was successful. You can then retrieve the trap and
release the racoon on the bank.
