I have a Trane NG furnace and until recently it is now causing electrical interference throughout my house. When the furnance main blower motor and burners ignite (After the draft inducer starts...Recently replaced draft inducer and problem was occuring both before and after replacement). The electrical interference is heard when on the phone, TV reception, some lights, etc. The electical noise seems to stop when the thermostat reaches desired temperature and the furnace begins to cycle down. So net net is the interference starts when the furnance burners fire and when the burners shut down. Any thoughts?
is it heard on a wired phone or a cordless phone?
what does it sound like, a hum or a buzz or random static?
what does the TV interfrence look like, little dots or wavely lines?
(I'm not joking, these have a specific meaning)
what do you mean some lights? how does it effect the lights?
my guess is that this is a brushless motor that is driven by electronics and the electronics are creating RF interference
If you know a ham radio operator in the area, he (or she) may be able to help you.

you may also want to post in
rec. radio. amateur
hams are very aware of the RF environment and if these Trane's are causing a widespread problem, they may be aware of it...

Im sure Trane knows the fix but doesn`t want to do it as it is widespread, if they keep quiet they might avoid a part recall. For 35$ small claims court would wake them up, as their apearance would be minimum 1000 for just an atty. The Consumer Product Saftey Comission or whatever gov group deals with recalls surely has heard of this and has ideas for you. Tranes tel#, sure that is hidden from consumers..
Small claims you do not hire an atty and it would never go to court as it would be fixed within 30 days of their notice of suit.
I posted about this problem some time ago (approx in Jan) and have had a number of things done without resolving the problem. My RFI problem is not as extensive or as severe as the one that you've described as it is only causing interference with a small TV that is using rabbit ears. Without question, mine is caused by the inducer (vent) motor; the interference is only there when it is running. The most significant improvement came when the harness between the inducer motor and the control board was replaced with a "shielded harness". The HVAC Co that I have been dealing with has contacted Trane several times but so far nothing new has been presented. I've seen other reports so you are not alone. I'm of the opinion that Trane is well aware of the RFI problem but just doesn't know what to do to fix it. I had a new Trane for about a year and because of an internal failure it was replaced with the current one--the most obvious difference between them was the inducer motor--no RFI problem with the first one. I hope that you'll post if you come across any solutions. MLD
Have you got any phone numbers that will get us into Trane's customer service or better still, higher up the food chain? MLD
No its 8 years old and I Never posted before.
is it heard on a wired phone or a cordless phone? WIRED
what does it sound like, a hum or a buzz or random static? a cycle of intermitent predictable static
what does the TV interfrence look like, little dots or wavely lines? very slight Wavely lines (I'm not joking, these have a specific meaning)
what do you mean some lights? how does it effect the lights? I think the entire ground is impacted if the phone and tv are effected along with bedroom set of high hats
my guess is that this is a brushless motor that is driven by electronics and the electronics are creating RF interference
