You get South Park by antenna?

In 17 days now. It's one of the countdowns I'm displaying on my homepage (and the other is for the TV).

Well, I solved that by getting several antennas and conecing them to boxes, and they've been running 24 hours a day for almost a year. I have plenty of TV signals.

I can get CBS, NBC, Fox (and probably ABC and CW after the transition). I wish that included PBS.

I say XP is worse (though tolerable) and Vista is much worse.

I forget what it was called, but I seem to remember a program that copies DVDs without the crap.

I think there's one station around here that won't be affected (it's low power), but the programming is REALLY crappy.

I still use both of the Win98's for most stuff, but use Vista for the internet. I don't hate Vista, but I don't care for it all that much either. The Windows Mail in Vista is sadly lacking IMO.

Not accord "Sales of television sets are growing by 4 million a year, the vast majority of them flat-panels. LCD -- liquid crystal display -- sets use 43% more electricity, on average, than conventional tube TVs; larger models use proportionately more. Plasma TVs, which command a relatively small share of the market, need more than three times as much power as bulky, old-style sets."

Good for Israel. Hopefully the troublemakers in Gaza will be eliminated. Let's all hope that Israel continues to clean out Gaza when that new American leader is in office...

Yes, back in September everybody and their brother thought it was a good idea to send $200 billion to fannie/freddy, then $700 billion to New York (wall street), then another $150 billion in "stimulation pork", this treasury robbing was a totally non-partisan vote. Except for the group of republicans who thought market forces should allow the wall street firms to fail/converge by voting against it. In the end those republicans will be proven right, there should not have been any wall street bailouts. If anything the dems were in lock-step in this corporate welfare give-away.

You are wasting your time. People would prefer to be told rosy lies about change and how everyone will be saved by some miracle.

I know everyone is digital crazy and I feel the odd one out. But I find these sets obnoxious. The compression artifacts and the 'crinklyness' of the whole thing doesn't allow me to watch anything. I find I'm looking at the technolgy half the time. I hope this is the year the set disappears and it's the show I start watching. (Football games AAAAhhhh. As the depth of field changes, you just get sucked right out of the chair. And the grass. If the camera doesn't move it pointy, and when it moves, turns into pea soup. And a law should be passed. No closeups closer than two or three heads. And damn it!, quit moving the camera all the damn time) There. I feel better.

I am getting damn sick of hearing this bullshit about Bush's failure with Katrina.

First of all, Katrina was the third major Hurricane to hit the US within two months. That resulted in most of the emergency resources having already been commited elsewhere and were not easily moved. Most of those resources were volunteers who had jobs and families to attend to and were tired and needed a break.

Second, everybody with half a brain knew that New Orleans needed to be totally evacuated well in advance of Katrina landfall. It was one of the most stupid decisions by the Mayor of New Orleans that I have ever witnessed and the only reason he was not raked over the coals for it was because the media was afraid of saying anything against a black mayor.

Third, the entire infrastructure of the New Orleans area was rendered unusable by the storm. Roads into New Orleans were flooded, bridges were destroyed, electricty was knocked out, and the ability of the volunteers to reach the area (volunteers who must find their own way to each disaster) was blocked from every direction.

Fourth, the funds for maintaining the levies in New Orleans were being syphoned off and used for everything except maintaining and upgrading the levies. It was far more important to the political establishment to have that money for casinos and gambling than for maintaining their city.

Fifth, the city of New Orleans was a sewer long before Katrina hit and it should have been moved to higher ground long ago. It is one of the dumbest things imaginable to continue to dump taxpayer funds into that cess pool when we know that it is impossible to protect New Orleans against a major storm of Katrina's size. There will be another storm, maybe this year, maybe not for another decade but it will hit and it will have the same result.

New Orleans was a disaster waiting to happen and it is still waiting to happen yet again. That was not Bush's fault and neither was the outcome of this disaster.

When did they start broadcasting those over the standard airwaves? Except fro 60 Minutes the others are only available on Cable or Sat. As for 60 Minutes, why do you watch a news program that has repeatedly been caught fabricating stories and lying?
