If I were smart I'd leave things alone, but it's well known that I'm not smart. So to add another 2 cents to the WD-40 as lubricant war, Grainger, maybe the biggest industrial supply company of a certain nature in Baltimore, sent me an email which said "Loosen up, plus clean, protect and lubricate with WD-40!"

and which pointed to this webpage, where it lists 26 lubrication products they sell.

It was formulated to do one thing...the rest of the touts it does poorly. End of story.

it was not marketed as a lubricant initially. And since it is basically kerosene, it's not much of one.
