Spray paint lost all it's gloss

I spray painted some tractor parts (using an aerosol can). This matching color tractor paint tends to take several days to fully dry. In the hot summer it dried a little faster from the hot air an sun beating on the paint.

I just painted these parts and left them outdoors to dry. The weather has been in the 60's dripping into the mid 50's at night. I painted them mid afternoon. There was some dew that night, and it made the paint lose it's gloss. It should have been fairly dry by that time, but even in hot weather it needs 24 hours to be handled, and another 24 or more hours to get fully dry. (A lot longer than most spray paints).

Yesterday I gave it a second coat, and brought it in the house to dry. The odor in the house is not desirable, but at least the paint dried with it's glossy finish.

Why does dew take away the glossiness of paint?

Dew = water. If you mix water with the paint it will also affect the gloss.
