Small Tree Job - Salem, NH

I have a tree that is leaning against another tree. I called a tree service, they came and took a look and agreed it should be removed, but said it was too small a job and they did not want to be bothered. So, does anyone know of a tree service in or near Salem, NH that takes smaller jobs, and at a reasonable price?

Note that I am not a do-it-yourself type when it comes to climbing trees (or even ladders) and I have no means of removing or even lifting the remains (small car and bad back), so please don't suggest that I try to do it myself.

Thanks for your help. Larry

Check at local construction companies. They have to remove large and small trees to erect houses or buildings.

If there is any local market for firewood, some of the suppliers are people who cut the wood themselves, i.e. have the skills necessary for such work (if no injury insurance for employees etc.) If your tree has any value, such a woodcutter might do the work for nothing. Otherwise, offer him $30 or $40 an hour to fell and remove this tree. You find such individuals through people who buy or sell firewood locally.

I had a crab apple tree that I needed removed because it was in a bad place. I got a large operator to do the small job, by agreeing to wait until he had other work in the area. His crew stopped and dropped my tree on their way home from another jobsite. Over the next week or so, they came back and removed the pieces and ground the stump.

Call around to garden centers or tree nurseries. They will know someone.

Give craigslist for your area a try.

Ask a neighbor?
