Should the U.S. pull out of Chicago ?

It's good to see it's about 150 below 2003.

Of course it is your logic. You agree with it and you perpetuate it. Therefore, it is yours.

Then tell me how many decades of stealing from those who work to give to those too lazy to work has improved the lot of the lazy bastards. It has done nothing but make those more dependent on a system that will guarantee their poverty for life.

Last time I checked, lead had been removed from ALL gasoline in the USA. NYC has a low murder rate. Chicago's is through the roof. You try to attribute murder rates to leaded gasoline and call someone else "mindless".

As for "rich folks" packing people into slums, it's actually you clueless libs that did that with five decades of failed welfare programs. You know, the ones that encourage fathers to leave families and teach people how to live generation after generation of public assistance.

Note all this carnage (will exceed 500 gun homicides for the year) has taken place in a "gun free" zone.

Chicago is also a "Nuclear Free" zone, so at least that part's working.

You have *got* to be kidding. You don't seriously believe that, do you? You do realize, don't you, that the *elimination* (not "reduction") of lead in gasoline took place

*nationwide*, not just in NYC?

So how come crime went way down in NYC, but it's still sky-high in Chicago and DC?

Around 30 years or so ago lead paint was outlawed entirely. HOwever, there is still a lot of it left.

I didn't attribute crime rates to ANYTHING....READ WHAT I WROTE...I referred to an article I found interesting. The author of that article made no conclusions either....I haven't finished the article yet 'cause I've been real busy and it is a long one....so far the author has merely compared data for the lead polution levels and crime stats.

Moronic claim....read some history, as least for the city of Chicago. FWIW, I'm not liberal by a long shot and choosing to have children one cannot support is not behavior I support. I did live in Chicago a long time, and am familiar with politics, social issues, housing conditions, schools. Prejudice reaches deep into politics and continues to do harm.

realize, don't

*nationwide*, not just

Where did I say that I believed it? I found the article interesting, thorough. Period.

Gasoline isn't/wasn't the only source for lead contamination. The article mentions that the inner city, with the heaviest vehicular traffic, has lead levels in soil, etc., remaining long after the ban.

You wrote "... it [the reduction in crime] might have been due more to the reduction of lead in gasoline."

Do you tell me now that you don't believe what you wrote earlier today?

So how come crime went way down in NYC, but it's still sky-high in Chicago and DC?

That was one concept presented in the article I wrote about, not a theory of my own. I do know that lead poisoning was epidemic in big cities, and likely elsewhere with similar conditions. Why was lead in gasoline and paint banned, I wonder?

If you don't agree with the concept, why did you bother mentioning it?

It was banned nationwide. How come crime went way down in NYC, but is still sky-high in Chicago and DC?

Why won't you answer that question?
