Sharp microwave blowing circuit breaker

I have a six year old Sharp R-510 AK microwave, rated at 1000 watts output, 1500 watts or 13 amps input. It has started to blow the circuit breaker quite often. Should I replace the 15 amp breaker with a 20 amp? The oven seems to run for a few minutes before tripping, so it doesn't seem like a dead short.

DO NOT replace that 15 amp breaker with a 20 amp. Most likely you have 14 gauge wire on that 15 amp breaker. Putting a 20 amp breaker on 14 gauge wire is against NEC rules. More importantly, it could allow more current to flow in the circuit than the wire is rated for, which could lead to you burning down your house. You need to find out why the circuit breaker is tripping, and correct the problem. Dave

Id put my money on a old breaker. Try replacing it with a new 15 amp breaker.

I'll try the new 15 amp breaker. This microwave is on it's own circuit as it's supposed to be, I wired it, and I only use 12 gage wire for all 110 volt circuits in house. Probably a 25 ft. run at most.

Because it shouldn't need it!!!

You should always try to find the cause and not just eliminate the symptom (tripping breaker).
