Self Adhesive Vinyl Tile

Are there any problems to be aware of when putting down SAVT over existing sheet vinyl? Any additional prep needed, suggestions, tips???

Just clean the existing tile real good. IMO, SAVT sticks best to a smooth, clean surface.

You will need to "roughen" the surface and also make sure it is perfectly clean. "Rougheners or liquid sanders" are available at places like Lowes.

Pull out the fridge and give it a try first, but laying a few tile on your existing vinyl before doing the whole room.

Let it sit overnight and see if it sticks okay.

tips???

If the existing vinyl has a texture to it, it will telegraph through to the new tiles. You can remedy that by using a floo rlevelling compound which is essentially auto body putty that you trowel and smooth onto the old tiles prior to putting on the new.
