rider lwanmower tank issues

got a used lawnmower last fall. eventually got it working but it's got a few issues.

the gas tank is sound but it apears that rust is developing inside the tank and fouling the tanks screen. last fall I went and cleaned the tank out as best as i could, and it apeared to rund fine.

today i tried to get it to run and the tank screen was plugged again.

anyone have some suggestions?

Tanks are cheap. Find a dealer and buy a new one. Your old one rusted from being left out in the weather, so the machine may have other issues and may not be worth investing too much more time on. if a new tank gets you through this season you will have your money's worth. If it goes a couple of years more you made a profit, so to speak. good luck.

Replace the tank and ensure that it's always full of gas. Never leave a half full tank.

Replace the tank or if you can't find a replacement take it to a motorcycle shop and they will clean and seal it for you.

remove tank, insert a handfull of nice CLEAN gravel Agitate vibrate toss aroiund for awhile. The gravel bouncing aroiund inside will clean the tank! Now repeat with new gravel then empty and flush well with garden hose.drain well, let sit fr day outside in sun .........

old friend does this cheap effective.

guess how i cleaned it out last year :)

but i left it empty over teh winter, i am assuming that it rusted some more whit the humidity.

I think I'll go the new tank route.
