not likely. you've got a ten meter ham rig, 5 meter antenna =huge reflected power , you'll damage the radio if you attempt to transmit without a transmatch , and even with a transmatch . you'll have little radiated power and very litttle antenna gain ,

look into stick style antennas . or consider another band BTW if your considering playing around in the "freeband"

27.500 -28.000 be warned , the us military is actively seeking out and prosecuting people who are transmitting on these frequencies

seesm they want a portion of ten/eleven meters for themselves

If you must use this antenna then use a antenna tuner.

Try one of these

Yanni,

A 27 MHz CB radio such as you describe requires either an antenna tuner to match to a 5 meter long wire or instead requires the correct antenna designed for 27 MHz / 11 meter service, nominally a 52 ohm coaxial cable driven quarter wave matched vertical. The antenna tuner or the correct 27 MHz antenna can be purchased on the Internet.
