Pool sandfilter, sand or zeolite ????

I'm installing a new sand poolfilter. I've heard abotu zeolite and it sounds very good. Use half the amount of recommended sand, and it filters much better. Any drawbacks ? Remove NO-SPAM from email address when replying

I would install what the manufacture says to use.
