Painting aluminum roof pans????

I have a aluminum pan roof, that needs some help. This is on a summer porch, where the underside of the pan roof is the ceiling below. The underside, which has a white coating, is in bad shape. The color is gone in a lot (60%) of places, and the whole thing looks poor. I want to paint it, and am wondering what prep work to do, and what paint to use. Is it necessary to prime with zinc chromate before painting? Thanks in advanace

I painted my aluminum roof porch last summer. I power washed it, with a small cheapy Harbor Freight electric jobber I bought. Then I mixed up some TSP and warm water and sprayed it again. Rinsed again. Let dry over night and sprayed it with the same paint that I used on the house. The color of my home is a light sandal brown. Very light coat let dry, then in opposite direction second coat. Finished off with a third coat when that was dry. Still looks great. As for durability, I do not care, it really did not take all that long to do. Took almost as much time to clean my airless as it did to do the painting. Now the SO is thinking of changing the look, so I am waiting until it gets warmer and she picks the color. I shall do as I am told. Humor....
