Burlington, VT Weather Advisories, Watches & Warnings SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
...RECENT SNOWFALL COULD POSE SOME HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS...
THE SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL ACROSS MOST OF VERMONT AND NORTHERN NEW YORK HAS ELEVATED SEVERAL HAZARDS.
FIRST...THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT REMINDS YOU TO KEEP HOUSE VENTS CLEAR OF SNOW AND ICE. ANY VENTS THAT ARE OBSTRUCTED CAN CAUSE A SHUT DOWN OR MALFUNCTION OF HOUSE APPLIANCES OR BLOCK HEATING VENTS...WHICH COULD LEAD TO A DANGEROUS BUILDUP OF CARBON MONOXIDE.
ALREADY...VERMONT EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT HAS REPORTED THAT FIRE DEPARTMENTS THROUGHOUT VERMONT HAVE RESPONDED TO NUMEROUS CARBON MONOXIDE ALARMS ON MONDAY. PLEASE KEEP VENTS AND CHIMNEYS CLEAR OF SNOW AND ICE AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS INSTALLED IN YOUR HOME.
SECOND...LARGE SNOW PACKS ON ROOFS...ESPECIALLY FLAT OR SHALLOW PITCHED ROOFS...COULD POTENTIALLY LEAD TO STRUCTURAL FAILURES DUE TO THE WEIGHT OF THE SNOW. ALREADY...A FEW WEAK BARN ROOFS HAVE FAILED WITH THIS STORM AND DOZENS OF FAILURES WERE REPORTED IN FEBRUARY AFTER A SERIES OF STORMS.
THE FORECAST FOR LATE WEEK IS FOR MILDER AIR AND RAIN WHICH MEANS ADDING WATER AND MORE WEIGHT TO AREA ROOFS. IF YOU FEEL YOU HAVE AN UNSAFE ROOF...CONSIDER REMOVING SNOW FROM THE ROOF DURING THE NEXT FEW DAYS...IF YOU CAN DO SO SAFELY. OTHERWISE...CONSIDER HIRING A ROOFING PROFESSIONAL TO ASSIST YOU.

That's what we have here in W.NYS in the "city" as opposed to any mountain areas. Syracuse was pounded this year 160 inches Plus. I guess everywhere people are so sick of snow that doesn't seem to give up.
