OT: Jerry Can Pouring Technique?

NATO JerryCans as in

OK, to pour, one grabs a center handle with, say, the left hand and elevates the can to there the spout can be stuffed into the receiving tank.

But then the can has to be tilted - probably with the right hand.

But there's nothing to grab on to.

The bottom of the can is indented a little, and that seems like it has promise with the addition of some non-skid - and that's what I'll probably do: stick on some stair tread nonskid on that area of the bottom so the hand won't slip.

Does anybody have a more elegant way?
