Well, in certain circumstances (such as in the bedroom, rather than the doctor's office...) I'd have to agree with you.

I'll call Scotty and see what he can do, but I think you're going to be disappointed. I seem to recall reading that we haven't stored the (main pile of) gold at Fort Knox since about the time Nixon was president. (A goodly chunk of it was under the WTC until 9/11, from what I've heard)
Can you be sure without properly investigating? The way the OP posted we should start killing anyone who looked like they might be looting. I have more than enough killing in my lifetime, but I'm sure others could care less about taking a life. After all, killing others is part of what we need to keep civility in this nation, right? Death by firearms is part of what we have to keep others under control? Oh well, enough said on my part. I'm sure I could never convince you that taking a life, for property alone, is murder, plain and simple.

Wrong. You may have your misunderstandings corrected free of charge here:
Wrong.
To some, preserving material items is more important than anything else in life. IMHO, it's not supposed to be, but I'm probably wrong. In some cases, we have become what we have claimed our enemies are. Considering some folks claim we are a nation founded on Christian/Judeo values, it has to make you wonder what happened to change all that and if it was ever true.

What can you expect from some poeple who have the Dirty Harry mentality?
What's more important is to stop those POS who would shoot at the people who are trying to save those who are trapped.
The Gov. asked them for assistance on Sunday prior to the storm.
Where does it say that?
Can you tell me what things those are?
There were 1200 there on the ground in NO, but no more were available unti later in the week.
Which is more important? A saving a tv, or saving somebody trapped in a flood?
Trying to bring back lynching laws? How about the provisions allowing for due process? Killing someone that you _think_ is a looter is a far cry from justice.
Mike
Congress should listen to you when they have their hearings (which they undoubtedly will). That's probably as good a synopsis as any they're likely to come up with. They'll just take weeks(or months) and volumes and volumes to come up with basically the same thing.

Shooting looters, rapists, car jackers and other low lifes has nothing to do with preserving material items. It has everything to do with preserving the basic order of socieity needed to survive a crisis. The bangers were taking advantage of the disorder and preventing people from seeking help and helping each other. When there is no other way of dealing with them, you have to put them down. It has nothing to do with religion, and everything to do with survival.
Straw man argument. It has nothing to do with property, and everything to do with civil order. You don't shoot looters because they are stealing stuff, you shoot looters because they are interfering with rescue efforts and the restoration of civil order. Society has a right to defend itself, collectively just as much as individually.

Would that you were in an attic in N.O. right now big mouth. Definately a missed oppurtunity for further gene pool cleanup...
The credit card companies certainly know he's real.
This is Turtle.
That would be a good ideal for you to do.
Red cross , Federal Aide, national guard , and salvation Army takes care of the people in the first way to save their life and then FEMA comes in behind and rebuilds the city. FEMA has a Team of Doctors and Nurses of 25 people and nothing to speak of as to take care of a city the size of New Orleans. Now these doctors are also still on call to the Federal aid program and can go back and forth between the two Groups.
