Need old fricrion wheel for AMF snowblower

I have an old (early 70s?) duo stage snowblower that I have almost restored. It has a Tecumseh 5 hp engine. I believe it is an AMF Snow King, Model 5860-0010. It needs a new friction wheel. I don't have the part no. Does anyone know where I could possibly find one?

You should be able to find manuals and part numbers on line if they still exist.

You sure it's an AMF?
You may not need a new wheel but only need to clean the friction disk and wheel rubber of grease and oil. It's usually a mess down there. If the rubber really is shot you may be able to replace or epoxy a new rubber tire on it. I know MTD carries them for old Yardman snowblowers.See if they have one that fits.

A number of snowblower manufacturers use the variable speed friction wheel and disk for their transmissions -- were probably made by one company or at least only a few. Take yours into a couple of lawn equipment dealers and see if they can match it. They probably can come close enough.

Try looking at the friction wheels at the bottom of this page to see if any look like yours. Then maybe ping the place and ask them to tell you the outside diameter of the one you think it may be:

Good luck,

AMF made snowblowers for Sears. Try Sears part #27046.
