need HVAC advice

I need to buy a new AC unit - mine bit it this week. A local dealer is encouraging me toward a Lennox HS26 and has quoted me an installed price. Does anyone have any experience with this unit and what were your experiences in regards to pricing?

I have another dealer coming out next week for another estimte on the same Lennox and would just like to see how these guys are matching up to others experiences.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Tony

I'm sorry.

Over priced, JUNK!!

Really you need to look for the best installer you can afford.

The name on the equipment is less meaningful than you know. What I'm saying is that the best piece of equipment installed wrong is going to cost you a lot in repairs & give you lots of headaches.

Get a decent company to install the equipment correctly and you will be a lot happier.

First, the company that is going to do the best job is one that does a Manual J & D. (if they don't do one, lose them.....Period)

Do a little research on the company, ask friends, family, co-workers, nieghbors who they use and if their happy.

Good Luck,

I can't comment on the specific unit, but I can suggest that if you have had only one estimate, you need more.

Also read kjpro's advice about choosing a contractor. The contractor is much more important than the hardware. The best hardware can't make up for a poor install. A good contractor will not suggest poor equipment.

Personally, Iam not a big Lennox fan--but whatever you put in get several estimates, check out the contractors credentials--do they have a good rep? What does the local Better Business Bureau say about them? I work for a Lennox dealer in my area, but we also install Nordyne and Amana too--these are my personal preferences, as far as serviceing them! If they don't use Manuel-J, send them packing!
