need help

Thermostats turn it off and on to regulate heat, only when the main switch is turned on. If it is starting up when it is supposed to be switched off, it is in the control panel or the on/off switch

It may well be combined as one unit. The metal tube is the sensing part of the thermostat. If that is the case, the entire unit would need replacement.

I have a five year old westinghouse fan forced oven which decides to turn itself on every now and then.I suspect this is blowing my electricity bill out of proportion. is this a thermostat problem. could i just calibrate the thermostat or do i need to buy a new one....

all your comments are appreciated.

cheers

thanks for your advice.

I am a bit confused about which part is the thermostat and which part is the on/off/temp ontrol switch. I thought i had a problem with the on/off switch however when i opened the front panel up, the metal tube bit that extends into the oven (I am assuming that this is the thermostat ? right? )comes and connects with the on/off/temperature control switch. does this mean that i have to change the whole on/off/temp control assembly ???
