My experience with Bosch Appliances

We gutted and rebuilt our kitchen and totally upgraded our first floor in 2000. As part of the kitchen rebuild we bought a $1,300 Bosch gas cooktop and an $1,100 Bosch dishwasher. The is what has happened in 5 years.

The gas cooktop had to be completely replaced by Bosch within months of the installation due to faulty electronics in the igniting system. The new one was really no better. Last year I paid $256 to have a new electronic control unit put in. Here we are a year later using a Bic butane lighter to light one of the five burners.

The dishwasher is no doubt the quietest dishwasher I've heard. And it cleans great. But after 5 short years I just spend $292 for a new computer module after it refused to go to the next cycle. I'm finding out this is a common problem with Bosch dishwashers.

Bottom line ..... I would not spend another penny on Bosch appliances again. Live and learn. Even the repairman who was here working on the dishwasher this weekend said Bosch dishwashers are very quiet but a total pain to work on and very very expensive to fix.

I wish I had the name and address of the one person at Bosch who actually may care what their customers think. I'd love to write that individual a letter.

Just my two cents worth for those considering buying a Bosch appliance.

Bosch stuff LOOKS nice, but i think it's just over-priced mediocre stuff.....

My Maytag 3 rack dishwasher broke 4 times in 2 years. Even though the last repair had a parts warranty Maytag service was about $150 for labor. 3 weeks later something else broke on it. Maytag said I would have to pay for labor again. I used my own labor and dumbed it for garbage pick up.

Meanwhile my parents' Bosch is doing fine except the connector burndt where the dishwasher gets wired to house ac. I'm told it is a pretty common problem which is ridiculous but easy to fix if you realize what happened before calling for service.

That person does not exist. If they did he/she would have insured that the pos was made right to begin with.

We bought a Bosch Integra dishwasher 3 years ago. The dishwasher is extremely quiet and cleans better than any we've ever had. The choice of sanitizing cycles and it's energy and water effeciency make it a remarkable machine in my opinion. The unit has a leak detection system and no drying coil. I've replaced a $6 on/off switch in 3 years. I only wish that the Kitchen Aid wall oven and the Maytag Netptune washer were as reliable.

You have had electrical problems but have you thought about power issues, utility surges, lightning, improper wiring. Utility surge nocked out some equipment once, lightning Ive been through that 3 times, maybe

  1. it can be distant and selective. Improper wiring like floating neutral, improper ground, or reversed polarity. If you had a complete recorded record of power supplied to your house you would find many incidents that can ruin electronics, especialy during storms. Whole house surge suppresion and verifying proper ground are a good place to start.
