Looking for 16 inch ceiling tiles (2023 Update)

I'm looking for 16-inch acoustic, staple-on ceiling tiles to patch some bad spots in an older apartment I have. It would seem they are no longer available (all I can seem to find is 12-inch tiles).

Anyone know of sources for these? I hate the idea of ripping out the entire ceiling when I only need to replace a few tiles.

Thanks,

John

That's an odd size. My guess is that they made that size to install them directly on the ceiling joists which are (or should be) 16" on center. You could make your own 16x16 tile. Buy the 12 inch tiles, then make a

4 foot square by glueing them together. You can now cut out 9 16X16 tiles. Or you can buy an oversized tile like 24X24 or 24X48 and cut a piece out.

TEN YEAR OLD THREAD, dummy. When are those idiots at HomeMoaners ever going to check the dates of posts they are replying to before they make a fool of themselves?

Wow, first - "dummy" - let's drop the name calling. Second, you replied to the late response - why bother? Just roll your eyes and move on, if you must. Third - I'm replying FIVE YEARS LATER (so now a 15 year old thread, gasp!) to say that I appreciated the late response! I am facing the same problem and I appreciate the suggestion made by Merrie. So cheers, JoanNotJoanr. You sound like a troll or a sad and angry person.

Says the fool who starts with name calling.

To run your stupid nose in the fact that you should consider the date on the post you are commenting on.

Go and f*ck yourself.

But it is unlikely that the poster will see your comment, stupid.

Then you need your ears tested, BAD.

I've been looking for maybe ten years for my VERY old bar. I appreciate the suggestions.
