Yes, .co, not .com.

This site is by a professor in Las Vegas, NV. We saw his billboard the other day while in Las Vegas doing homeowner reserve studies.

If you live in a HOA, know someone who does, or are considering moving into one, give it a look.

A professor in Las Vegas? Hmmm, kind of like a stripper in Oxford, England - a fish out of water!

Link doesn't work for me. Google denies any knowledge of problem.

Other than that, do you have anything to say? Have you ever lived in a HOA community? In many HOAs, dominance is established through the use of force, intimidation, relentless pressure, harassment, and psychological methods. I find that comparable to a concentration camp.

We were in Las Vegas a while back, and I did something contrary to my normal behavior. I bought a newspaper. It was because of the headline, which had to do with that HOA situation. Yes, I am aware of the situation. Do I care? NO!

My job (cash cow) is just to go out and do a thorough professional analysis, accounting, and documentation of WHAT IS THERE. From there, we turn it over to another person who does the spreadsheet/30 year cost calc/dues per owner per month thing.

IIRC, it had to do with the granting of sweetheart contracts for work within the properties. Something not new to me, and was going on with the property management companies when I had my steel erection contractor's license and did welding repair work for 278 properties, various hotels, and others in the LV valley. The sweetheart contract deal was alive and well at that time, but it did not involve my section of the work. I was never approached for a kickback, although there were properties that I knew paid $1,000 for a $250 job on a regular basis, and my $250 bid would not get the work. I just connected the dots, and went on to the next job, as by that time, I was booked solid.

As in life, thieves and other lowlifes SHOULD (I hate that word) get what they deserve.

The NRS (Nevada Revised Statutes) created six years ago (est.) that caused HOAs to be inspected by a state licensed reserve specialist every five years was brought about by abuses of the granting of contracts by the powers that be to friends, relatives, and providers with a cash in an envelope "bonus" business plan.

I would like to buy another paper next time I see the headline, and see just who got their comeuppances. But really, I don't care, as it only provides me with more bu$ine$$. I always enjoyed seeing thieves spanked, although in Muslim cultures, it was gory and frightening. I would attend a spanking of these thieves where they are tied to a tree, and whipped on their bare skin asses as hard as the whipper could whip, with a wet piece of bamboo/cane. Those not so lucky got their hands amputated with no anesthetic.

Must be a democratic site. Are you sure you're using

and not .com?

Ain't life great. Notice how some people can't enjoy life unless they are putting someone else down for something. Seems they are insecure and it gives their out of reality ego a false boost.

Note to self: Do not buy home in HOA.
