insulation - behind wall slats?

working on redoing a wall in an old house. there is currently no insulation between the walls. is there a need for one (i realized adding it will only help)?

the slat boards are stacked (half-lap joints) and nailed to the old studs from both sides. so i would assume that there is not much air infiltration from below (pier and beam house).

just don't feel like ripping out those old nice looking wide lumber unnecessarily.

Depends. How much are you paying every year in heating/cooling bills?

Depending on your climate, you may reduce the heating bill by 50% or more.

Probably more than you think.

There are other methods done from either inside or outside. Talk to a pro. Insulation is a very good investment. Better than bonds or stocks.
