Insane Price Hikes - Screws Now

Was at the Borg this morning (NC). Needed 3" no-snap deck screws. Hanging a prehung steel door. Use in jambs, especially hinge jamb. 8.49 lb they wanted! Yea well, this door goes in with galv finish nails. Worked for decades before. Think they were like 3.50/3,79.

Then I gander at the drywall screws (no, not to use on door). 1 lb box $5.79 now!!!! I Paid that for galvanized ones a couple years back.

All because of gasoline prices. I know it's a bargain compared to some places but truckers are paying like $4.80 for diesel here. Sister in CT says all fuels are way beyond what they are here. Calif is where I'm hearing the horror stories from.

Truckers have to jack up transport charges. Trucks carry everything in this country, from canned goods to drywall screws to car parts.

The most amazing thing I find about his particular oil f****ng is it's happening in an election year. I don't recall that happening in the past but could be wrong.
