How to build paver patio steps

I've finished putting in a new patio out of red 16" square pavers from Lowes, and it looks pretty good. However, I now need to build a step from the back door of the house to the new paver patio, and I'm wondering if I can make one out of pavers. I haven't been able to find any instructions on building steps out of pavers, so maybe it's not a good idea. I'd prefer not to pour concrete, but I'm open to any ideas.

Thanks, Ed

  1. Apply them to poured concrete steps

  1. Apply them to steps made of PT wood

  2. Stack 'em.

What I did in a similar situation is use a PT 4 x 6 as the edge and sides of the first step, anchored them with rebar stakes, then filled in with fill, added about 3 inches of screenings which was tamped down smooth. The screening (a sand/gravel-like material that compacts well and forms a good solid base) is the base for the paving blocks. The next step is similar, with the 4 x 6 timber set in place at the back of the first step, filled in behind, etc. . . It came out very well. Regards --
