Hotpoint fridge water leak

Help! I have a Hotpoint CTX24GLRRWH standard refridg. (fridge on bottom, freezer on top) with a mysterious water leak. Water pools on the floor about every other day - probably from the auto defrost. The drain pipe is clear to the pan. BTW: there is never any water in the pan. The water is somehow bypassing the normal drain route and somehow ending up on the floor!!! Any ideas??? Thanks.

This is Turtle.

You have one of two problems

1) The drain is plugged up and you need to blow it out.

2) You have a frozen up drain at the evaperator coil and defrosting it may unstop it but you had or still have a problem that let it freeze up in the first place.

Your going to have to trouble shoot it to see which it is and how or what way to go on this.

All the way from the *freezer* compartment to the drain pan under the fridge or just from the drain cup towards the ceiling of the fridge to the drain pan?

If the defrost water drain *in the freezer compartment* is plugged with ice or stray food bits (frozen peas, corn niblets, etc.) that may be possible. You can see what areas will likely need to be accessed to correct such an occurrence on several different designs of refrigerators at the following link:

My fridge is leaking water, what might the problem be?
