Gas dryer installation code requirements.

Does anyone know anything about there being a requirement for installing vinyl or similar non porous sheeting under a gas clothes dryer?

Never heard of any such reqt, nor can I imagine why there would be one. Millions of them are sitting on everything from tile to wood flooring.

Your city hall building permits office is the local authority on safety codes.

As someone else wrote, there are probably millions of gas dryers already sitting on top of vinyl flooring.with no problem.

You could also go online and look up the gas dryer make and mdel that you have and download the manufacturer's installation manual. I doubt that you'll see anything there about not installing it on top of a vinyle floor.

Actually, from the wording of the question, it sounded like she was asking about a requirement TO install vinyl or another non-porous material under it....

Thanks. I didn't catch that. I thought she was asking if there was any code requirement when one going to install vinyl under a gas dryer. But, I think you are correct about what she was aksing.
