This guys ad says he "got the car in 1997 and sold it in 2007". He owned the car for 10 years and doesn't have the VIN number anywhere!? If he had the VIN, then Carfax.com would be his best friend! Granted it wouldn't tell him the new owners name or address, but at least he could find out if the thing is still registered and on the road somewhere!

If he uses Carfax.com and gets lucky, and the car is still registered to be on the road in some small town, he should have no trouble finding it. If it's located at say someplace like New York City, then good luck with that! Only thing he could hope for then, is that Carfax.com would have the name of the repair shops/dealer where it's being serviced, and maybe they could tell him the owner?

Why do you reply to yourself? You could do that without the usenet.

No, I'm just saying, that if he uses something like Carfax.com, he MAY be able to locate his precious car. Now as for him getting "visitation rights" for a car, thats a little ludicrous!

Whatever. Also, don't change the subject line and create a new thread. The new thread won't be followed by anyone especially when you cut all of the previous text.

If he's willing to pay the new owner's asking "child support", then why not? If the car is not running, he can pay the "medical bills", too.
