for medicare users: what's some good EXTRA insurance?

(Yes, off topic for this group, but surely of interest to everyone approaching or over age 65 -- especially with politicians of both parties trying to cut *all* govt services.)

MY QUESTION: for medicare users: what's some good EXTRA insurance?

I keep hearing horror-stories about medicare refusing to cover things.

Worse even, I keep hearing horror-stories about doctors (especially specialists)

*refusing* to take medicare patients. (Don't get paid enough?)

So, what's a GOOD place to get some EXTRA coverage?

Someone suggested AARP, but then someone else said they'd heard that AARP wasn't so good, that it was too expensive, considering the benefits you (didn't) get.

Ideas?

THANKS!

David

I have had the AARP supplement for 14 years. I have not had to pay for anything except a cane and some prescriptions. Medicare D is a rip off. My income is low so I can get prescriptions free direct from the manufacturer.

How can you know if Part D is a rip-off if you don't use it?
